Outreach International Romance Writers is a "Special Interest"
chapter of Romance Writers of America®. We provide support for those
members who live too far away to attend the functions of a regular
chapter. Outreach began as a committee of the RWA® National Board.
In 1995, because of its popularity and size, it was cut loose from
the National Board and incorporated as a "Special Interest" chapter
of RWA®.
Outreach has only one actual face-to-face meeting each year, at the
RWA® National Conference. All of our regular business is conducted
by U.S. Mail, fax, telephone, or e-mail because so many of our
members—and officers—have small town, rural route or foreign
addresses.
Outreach membership is open to any RWA® member in good standing,
whether or not she/he is a member of other chapters. Dues are $30
for new members and $25
per year for renewals, payable in January. Dues are prorated as described below.
Membership renewal is required each January regardless of the month
a member joins.

Nearly every state in the United States is represented in Outreach.
Our members and officers live all across the nation. We also have
members in Canada, Germany, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand,
and various APO addresses. Outreach has one major goal: to provide
support, fellowship, and news to our members. We supply this through
the following programs and activities:
ONLINE CAMPUS
We offer online classes on the craft of writing by published authors
and experts. Members receive a discounted rate. Joining is worth the
price even if you're only interested in taking the classes! Check

Members are also eligible to win a free Outreach workshop in a
bimonthly members only drawing.
PROGRAMS
Critiquing
Critique Loop where members can post chapters, scenes, synopsis,
query letters, or look for a critique partner.
GIAM--Goal In A Month
Support loop for those looking for encouragement and help finishing
their manuscripts.

This program is especially for the new romance writer who is working
on her first novel. It forms 'teams' of two new writers or "Rookies"
and one more experienced writer or "Write Fielder" for a coaching
period of six to twelve months. The Rookies complete about a dozen
exercises, which they exchange and also have the Write Fielder
critique. They can ask questions of the Write Fielder and, with the
handbook The Write Track, acquire a handy reference source for
developing their skills and learning how to write and market their
novel.
Chapter Sponsored Contests
Outreach hold several contest throughout the year. We sponsor a
member to enter Golden Heart and RITA. Also sponsor members in
Contest Of Their Choice.
NEWSLETTER
Our award-winning newsletter, the Outreacher, full of useful
information for writers.
Free Advertising and Support for our PUBLISHED AUTHORS
Our Published Author Liaison strives to invent innovative ideas for
support. We have a Published Author loop, provide links to your
website, advertise new releases on website, newsletter, and RWR.
CHAPTER LISTSERVES
Outreach has several Yahoo! Groups for our members. The OfficialOIRW
link is an announce-only list on which items of importance are
announced. The OutreachNews list is a more general chat list on
which members share news and we hold occasional discussions on
writing craft. Critique Loop for those who wish to critique online.
RITA
AND GOLDEN HEART SPONSORSHIPS
Outreach
members who enter the Rita or Golden Heart contest are
eligible to enter a drawing for a full sponsorship of
the registration fee.
